Dropair devices not connecting? Local Wi-Fi troubleshooting
Same Wi-Fi. Still not connected?
Being online is not the same as being reachable by another device. Dropair needs both devices in the same private pairing space and a working direct connection on the local network. Use the symptom below to decide what to check next.
Start with these three checks
- Keep Dropair open on both devices and connect them to the same trusted local network.
- Open one device’s complete pairing link on the other. Opening the website separately on two devices does not pair them automatically.
- Keep both devices awake, then try a small file first.

The page stays on Connecting
Check that the device can load other websites and that dropair.online opens. The public site and pairing service require internet access. Reload the page if no transfer is in progress. A network filter may be blocking the connection to the pairing service.
Your devices is empty
Pair again using the complete private link or QR code from one device. A partial link will not work. If you opened an invitation in another browser, keep using that browser: different browsers maintain separate pairing state.
A device appears but does not connect
The pairing service can be reachable while the direct device connection is blocked. Guest Wi-Fi, router client isolation and workplace network rules can prevent devices from talking to one another. Try both devices on a trusted home network. If your VPN has a local-network access option, check its settings; follow your organisation’s rules on managed devices.
Files are selected, but nothing sends
Selecting a file prepares the transfer. Choose the receiving device under Your devices, then accept the request on that device. For multiple ordinary files, expect an incoming approval for each one.
The transfer stops partway through
Keep both pages open and devices awake. Avoid switching Wi-Fi or closing the browser. A short interruption may recover while both sessions remain open; after a reload or closed session, start the transfer again.
A file is received, but I cannot find it
Choose Save in Dropair to export the browser’s stored copy. Then check your browser’s downloads. If saving fails, check available device storage and try again before clearing site data.
Limits worth knowing
Can Dropair relay the file if local sharing fails?
No. Dropair does not upload or relay file contents through a server. The website’s server helps devices pair, but it cannot bypass a network that prevents a direct connection.
Why does it work in one browser but not another?
Browser privacy settings, storage availability and networking support differ. Use a normal window in an up-to-date browser and try a small file. Private-browsing mode can limit storage. This does not require enabling third-party tracking.
What if I shared the wrong pairing link?
Open the pairing panel and choose Create a new private space, then pair your intended devices again. A device name is not proof of identity; only accept files you expect.
