Back up iPhone photos to a computer over Wi-Fi

Your photos. Safely copied.

Start in the DropAir iPhone or iPad app. Open Backup in the app and use the website on your receiving computer. To move just a few files without using the app, send selected photos through the browser.

DropAir’s iOS backup copies original photos and videos to your computer over the same local network. It keeps a record of confirmed saved items so you can pause and resume. Your originals stay in Photos.

What you will need

  • The DropAir iPhone or iPad app, with Photos permission. A full-library backup needs full access.
  • A computer on the same local network, with DropAir open in desktop Chrome or Edge for direct folder saving.
  • Enough free destination storage and both devices awake with DropAir open.
  • Internet access for connection setup and for downloading originals stored in iCloud when enabled.

Safari, Firefox and mobile browsers use ZIP downloads instead of direct folder saving. VPNs and guest networks can prevent discovery or transfer.

How to back up your iPhone photos and videos

  1. Connect the computer

Open dropair.online on the computer. Pair it with DropAir on the iPhone or iPad, checking the pairing prompt.

  2. Choose the library in Backup

Choose photos, videos or both and grant the appropriate Photos permission. Full access allows the chosen library category to be backed up; it is not a separate manual item picker. Enable Download iCloud originals if you want to include media stored only in iCloud.

  3. Choose the computer’s folder

Start the backup to your connected device and follow the website’s Backup instructions. In desktop Chrome or Edge, choose the destination folder and grant write access. Continue or resume on the phone when prompted.

  4. Keep both devices open

Files save individually in folder mode. Watch the confirmed-saved count. A paused or disconnected job can resume from the last confirmed saved item.

  5. Check the copies before changing your library

Open saved photos and videos on the computer. Some original formats need a compatible viewer. DropAir does not delete your originals or convert a Photos library into a complete device restore.

Resume after reopening the browser

Open Backup on the computer and follow the folder prompt. For an existing job, select the exact original destination folder, not the DropAir subfolder inside it. Keep the saved files and backup record together. Then tap Resume backup on the phone. Do not clear app data while relying on its saved progress.

What is included—and what is not?

DropAir backup exports original photo/video media and Live Photo components. Albums, edits, Messages, contacts, calendars and device settings are not included. It is a media export, not an iCloud or full-device restore replacement. Backup access is subject to the allowance and Plus terms displayed in the app.

For selected files without a library backup, use the selected-file transfer guide. The website does not independently scan your iPhone library.

Send your first file.

Open DropAir on both devices and start with a small file.
